Dear Mrs Brindle
Re:John Sullivan.

I think you might know that I act for Mr John Sullivan at present of H.M.Prison Wandsworth who was recently convicted of aiding Biggs, Flower, Anderson and Jenkins to escape from that prison on 8th July 1965.
Mr Sullivan entered a Plea of Not Guilty but nevertheless, was convicted. My client wanted to call a certain witness but the Prosecution would not give an undertaking to refrain from asking questions about this witness's previous convictions and so in the circumstances, Mr Sullivan was unable to call this gentleman.

I understand from my client that you and your friends have very kindly made a collection of some money which you would like him to have on his release and at the moment, my client is unable to accept this.

Mr Sullivan has asked me to write and tell you that he authorises me to look after the gift for him and so if you like to send it to me, I shall carry out Mr Sullivan's instructions. I understand that my client has already written to you direct informing you that I act for him.

Yours Truly
